Saladin, Richard the Lionheart, and the Battle that Decided the Third Crusade

The siege of Acre (11891191) was the most decisive military engagement of the Third Crusade, attracting armies from across Europe, Syria, Mesopotamia, Egypt, and the Maghreb. In this first comprehensive history of the siege, John D. Hosler shows how Richard the Lionheart and King Philip Augustus went into battle with Sultan Saladin in the monumental confrontation that was the centrepiece of a holy war.
