Ruchi loves Shabbos. When she puts on her only Shabbos dress and watches Mommy light the candles, it doesnt matter that there isnt enough food or that its so cold. But in Siberia, keeping Shabbos, kosher, and other mitzvos must always be kept a secret. Ruchi knows not to say anything, but sometimes she worries. What will happen if their nosy neighbor Ivan discovers their secrets?

The Secret Candles is the first book in the Stuck in Siberia series, true stories about a family that held on to its Yiddishkeit – no matter what.
