Originally issued in 30 monthly parts bound in printed paper wrappers, each with four engravings and eight or twelve pages of text; also issued in quarterly instalments. Undated, but printed after 1863 when the New York firm moved to Dey Street, where it continued into the 1870s. Also printed during use of form “Virtue and Co.” by London firm, between 1865 and 1875.
