Nine-year-old Rumaisa Haris moves with her family to her grandparents ancestral housea place where cats keep their kittens hidden under the bathtub, the curtain rod wobbles dangerously if hit too hard with a broom to scare away lizards, and worst of all, the hot water supply gets cut off in the middle of winter. Since her mothers budget can only accommodate a few repairs at a time, Rumaisa devises a clever plan to raise money. Will her secret plan succeed, or will it fall flat? “Rumaisas Secret Sadaqah” is set against the backdrop of COVID-19 and is based on actual events. It aims to teach important concepts such as Sadaqah (voluntary charity), the importance of togetherness in difficult times, and performing good deeds solely for the sake of Allah.
